So i finally got to 500 yesterday, but now i am missing emperyal shards. Can anyone tell me how i can obtain them i got my 500 bloodstone and my 500 dragonite i am only missing the emperyal shards.

Dungeons give 20 shards per path, and you could also try and run as many jps as you know, they give from my own experience between 3-9 shards

There is a casual loop of 6 chests in Queensdale. I’ve been running several of my 80s out there and can easily pick up 100 per day just from that zone.

Can you explain this to me… not quitte sure what you are talking about. In Queensdale are random drops of chest and you can pick them up at any time with any of your 80’s in my case 6…?

You don’t need jump puzzle chests in particular – they are just part of a larger group of permanent landscape chests and ALL of them give a couple empyreal shards each, once per 80th level character per day. Check this list and descriptions.

I happen to do the 6 or so listed on that page for Queensdale because I was familiar with all of them. I bust in to the beggar’s burrow: kill a few guys, loot the chest. Port over to the wolf cave: kill veteran wolf + cub, open chest. Walk to the harpy nests: kill harpy matron, open chest. Port to the Godslost Swamp, hike up to the centaur camp: kill centaur chieftain, open chest. Walk to Demongrub Pits puzzle: jump a bit, kill spiders, open chest, jump some more, kill oozes, open chest. Maybe 10 minutes per character and about 20 shard per character for the loop.

I’ll probably scope out another zone or two this week and be pulling in 200 or so shards a day .

There are 5 easy to reach chests in Wayfarer Foothills as well (jumping puzzle, 2 Jotun caves, 2 Svanir caves).

You can also get them from capturing camps and towers in WvW. Camp Supervisors drop 4, and tower Lords drop 8. Make sure you get kill credit though, credit for capturing the camp is not enough.

Not really. You get 30 if you complete a Temple and up to 25 from completing any of the big world bosses.

I think 5 per open world chest and 10 per Jumping Puzzle would be fair, as it stands though they’re dungeon/open world grind, and it sucks to do a tough JP and get a mere 2 shards. At least champ bags give like 5-9, and I can solo those faster than doing a single jumping puzzle. I thought it might be linked to level, but even Orr JPs gave me 2-4 shards…

I’m really thankful this material is available through a variety of sources including the open world chests. I like WvW, but it’s not that reliable since you never know if you’ll log in on the night when your side is doing well. I’m not a big fan of jumping puzzles so it’s nice there are other options.

Orr Temples will probably see more activity. One nice thing about these new mats, I finally got to do the Temple of Balthazar lol

Dragonite seems….relatively easy. Since they drop from the frequently repeating world bosses and temples in large quantities, it won’t be too difficult to collect 100.

Those shards though. Why only 2-5 per jumping puzzle chest? Some of those jumping puzzles and mini dungeons are hard and quite time consuming. Sure, you could park an alt at one, but even if they were dropping 10 per day, that would still take 50 days to collect enough.

I’m not really interested in doing dungeon runs for them, but I might have to once I get closer to actually crafting an Ascended Weapon.

For these it is easier if your side NOT doing well. Easiest would be when the enemy owns everything and you are outmanned. If your side owns everything there is nothing to kill for this loot.

You actually need 500 for a single weapon. I don’t do world bosses much anymore because of overflows on tarnished coast, hopefully the fix they implement for that will make them fun again along with the revamps like Tequatl.

The problem with the JP Empyreal rewards is that you can park a character there and collect it daily without any effort. I still don’t think it should be that low.

Also, it seems it is in no way balanced between different Jumping Puzzles. The one in Wayfarer Hills (takes less than a minute to clear) gives the same amount as the Southsun Stepping stones one.

Well you don’t have to solo the spider and it does drop a bag which has a chance of dropping bloodstone dust and other goodies

And yeah, portals should be unusable in the JP/MD areas.

I can’t do that…

So? I can get more with just 3 alts and current drops if they are moving around, without doing anything eally hard too. Just a bit of running around and easy jumping. Granted, it takes me significantly longer, but then my chars are not locked to a single place, and i can use them for getting dragonite and bloodstone dust as well.

It’s still 10 characters that do exactly nothing but get those 10 fragments each per day. If someone decides to waste that many character slots, let him. The balance should never revolve around ridiculous extremes – or you will find drops given out at rate that is reasonable only for someone playing for 20 hours daily on 5 accounts with 20 characters each.

At least scarlet invasions were mostly optional after a point, and in a way, took some of the grind out of the game due to how much gold they gave.

These Shards though are just a pain to get. I might have to start resorting to dungeon runs to get enough for an ascended weapon. It’s just silly how few drop from jumping puzzles. As long as I do a few world bosses/temples, I get enough dragonite and bloodstone dust to make 1 item a piece. But jumping puzzles barely give me anything that I wonder why I bother.

You can easily get 20-25 per character per day just by walking around Queensdale opening landscape chests.

What would qualify as dropping “enough”, when solo acquisition of these is already trivial with nothing more than opening the wiki and looking at the list of landscape chests?

I have a radical idea. Instead of redoing the 5-6 chest every day, why don’t you travel out there and find more chests? I don’t have an exact count, but I am pretty sure there are over 100 chests in the world that drop shards. Even at the rate of getting 3 per chest average, you’d have your shards in a few days.

Yeah, a change is needed. I guess were will see the following:

- All normal chests will become lootable once a day.

- JP chest will drop 8-10 shards and the difficult ones the same as dungeons (e.g. Obsidian Sanctum)

- Open world chests stay at 3-4 shards as their is nothing special involved here beside killing a few mobs or a champ you can easily kite away long enough too loot the chest.

Basically a new loot tables for the JP chests need to be added. Should not be biggie, just same as before just increased number of shards and maybe more silver. And the blue/green crap for the daily chests should be replaced by essence of luck right away.

So people like to jump but don’t like Fractals and dungeons can get their shards as well at the same rate. And the rest can just grab the open world chests. As their are tons of them no need to increase the drop rate (it should be a reward).

This also solves the problem of people doing the chests multiple times a day with alts by parking them there.

Something along these lines should keep everyone happy and I am sure we will see that kind of change in the future.

Boost dungeons too. I mean, temples are giving 30 dragonite per completion per day too.

As for which JP? That’s tough, because they can take a long time or a short time depending on how often one screws up. That jumping puzzle over in Southsun is pretty brutal about that. Obsidium Sanctum out in WvW also takes a fair amount of time. There’s that one cove jumping puzzle out in Orr, and the jumping puzzle out in Mount Maelstrom as well that can take a large amount of time.

The Hoelbrak chests seem to be variable, from 0 to 3.

Faster than then WvW supply camps, but still… so much for “no grind”.

Three days in a row, only a blue from that chest, and shards from every other like chest in the area… tells me that this one isn’t reliable enough to run around to daily, even though I’ll farm the spuds.

Go to orrmaps and cycle through the maps until you find one with the chests all laid out. Run through each chests on each of your 80s. I made about 150 in an hour doing this.

I think that the reason why jumping puzzles have a much lower amount is because it’s possible to get to the chest with a Mesmer portal, requiring just about zero time and zero effort.

I usually do LA JP with my all characters and Queensdale run. Didn’t count exactly how many I got butshould be at least 100 per day. OFC you don’t get shards every time but still it is nice, efortless income.

Yep. Meanwhile, you can get 100 dragonite with just one character in one day, just by making sure you hit a temple or two and a few world bosses. Don’t even need to have multiple alts. Same with the Bloodstone Dust.

As far as I can tell, dungeons are the only “easy” way at shards, and even those are only 20 per path.

There is zero need to change the chests to per account instead of per character – just another way to screw over people who enjoy actively playing and gearing alts. Don’t like that you are somehow at a disadvantage? No one is stopping you from leveling more 80’s.
