This isn’t about the price or the forced bundle of base game + expansion, there are a ton of threads on those already and honestly I don’t really care about that. I am curious if I already own the game would I be able to give away the core/vanilla game to a friend and use the expansion for myself?

I apologize if this has been asked and answered, there are far too many threads on the general subject already but everything I saw was more about the cost or the forced bundle.

You can only preorder the expansion with the core game, where’s the preorder for expansion only? I don’t want to buy the core game again.

Then I will no longer dump money into the cash shop and ill go find another game I refuse to buy another account just because NCsoft wants to make a few extra bucks

I highly doubt that, since GW2 currently retails for $39.99 on Amazon.

I only bought the game a month ago thinking I’d get it before the expansion to give me time to familiarise myself with the game before it comes out. Screw me I guess, just paid 45 bucks to play the game for a month and now I have to buy it again.

I’m legitimately confused though, where is the ability to buy HoT without re-buying the base game?

Are they really doing the thing where if you don’t own GW2 yet, you get both GW2 + HoT but if you already own GW2 then you get nothing but HoT?

I agree with those who don’t want the core game. Why is the expansion the price of the full game? That does not sound like a price for expansion. The least Anet should do is if you already got the core game, you’ll be given extra character slots. So, if 5 slots are included with HoT (that comes with original game), then those who already got the original game should be given 5 more additional slots.

I refuse to buy hot now I have worked my butt off unlocking skins and dyes I have spent tons of money on this game to just lose it? Sorry Anet but you guys really messed up on this one

So, I was waiting for this prepurchase thing for all along and following every step of HoT for the last months.

But.. 50 dollars for the standar version? 100 dollars for the shiny one? 75 if you want a mid tier with title and slot?

Don’t get me wrong, I find the price very adjusted due to it have the core game included on it, but what about the whole community that already have the core game? Paying the same huge chuck og money for the expansion costs more than buying the game itself.

I love this game and have been here since old beta wekeends, but seriusly the price is way too upsetting and just got all my Hype and hapiness about HoT flushed away, because at the Tax Conversion within my country, the price of this expansion costs rigth now 40% of my whole month salary.

Seriously, kitten this. After playing the recent beta (the one I farmed SW and DT for 40 hours for a portal), there’s no way I’m paying $50 for it.

(Let alone $100 for ultimate… holy kitten—either the people who set the prices are delusional, or ANet has a really annoying base of p2w fanboys.)

I am willing to pay $19.99 for an account upgrade that has the HoT content and includes a character slot. I am not interested in your products if you’re trying to scam me.

Would really like to see someone from Anet weigh in on this, because this is a huge “F-off” to all the existing players.

Really, the customer base that has supported you this long needs to purchase the base game to obtain the expansion. I expect this to be addressed quickly by the community relations team. If this stands don’t expect me or anyone in my guild who has been supporting GW2 to purchase this “expansion”.

That is screwed up, and has ignited the chat, and the community….. its paid mods all over again!

I cant be the only one upset over having to REBUY guild wars 2 in order to play the expansion. There is no reason except greed, to force us to buy the core game AGAIN to play the expansion. What reason can they possibly give to not have an option to buy the expansion only? Shameful.

Why is the core game included in the HoT Xpac? That means everyone who’s been playing since launch and helped support the game from the start is paying extra when compared to someone who just preordered HoT right now. This makes no sense ?

Making the people who believed in this game from the start pay more is a slap in the face honestly

There needs to be a different offer for players who already have an account. Or else we should be able to purchase each tier of the Xpac Preorder minus the cost of the core game.

Expansion been known much longer, so if you did not have this in mind when you bought GW2, then yes you made a bad choice, but you can not really blame A-net for such thing, since if that was the case, no new things can ever be added

This doesn’t make sense to me either. There doesn’t seem to be an option for only expansion… I mean I understand you want to make it easier for new players to get into gw2 but why isn’t there ane xpansion only copy?

“includes base game” probably means many a refund is going to be demanded from the guys who bought early before they announce an expansion pack that “doesn’t include base game” soon. lol

This is nothing short of an insult to every single one of those who have been loyally playing for so long. They’re giving new players the expansion practically for free in comparison!
And it’s not as if they’re offering a full game’s worth of content, either.

How are they scamming you? You might consider the price too high, and that is OK you are entitled to your opinion. But this is how markets work, supply and demand. As suppliers they are free to set any price that they feel like and you as consumer are free to decide if it is too low or too high. But it is certainly not a scam, that involves deceit and here there is none.

I think it just allows for beta access. I think later on the Expansion will be purchaseable stand alone for cheaper, without a core copy along with it.
