Specially at primetime many servers have huge queue in every map, meaning players who want to take part of WvW, can not. Same time there are always players just sitting at the wp doing nothing, and only taking up space from others. To prevent this, let’s kick out those who are actually afk.

Now, first we need to determine who is afk and who is, for example, scouting for enemies, discussing very important matters in team chat or just admiring the view.

1 – if you have done damage to enemy player or NPC or objective, you are not considered to be afk for next 10 minutes. Both skills and siege counts

1A – repairing objective or building siege counts same way as damaging enemy

2 – if you have not done any damage, game will now check if you have moved from one territory to another. If yes, you are not considered to be afk for next 10 minutes

3 – if you have done no damage, repaired or moved to other territory, the game will give you simple math question. You have 5 minutes to answer. Questions are similar to: how much is 15-4 or how much is 3 * 7. Just type the answer and you are not considered to be afk for 10 minutes.

4 – Next, if you have done no damage, repaired or moved around, AND you have not answered the simple math check in time AND there is currently queue to the map, you will be automatically kicked from WvW.

P.S. 10 minutes is only to give an example

If your server has ques that large, maybe move to a server that doesn’t? They would love active players.

People AFK for many reasons. Bathroom, food, don’t want to miss their guilds raid.

It’s annoying as kitten when a structure is being taken and no one moves from spawn, but kicking AFK in the time frames you mention is not the solution.

For those still afk’ing to tick down their participation: do it in Obsidean Sanctum you can’t gain there, but it will tick down giving you scheduled rewards.

Oh the cries of the overstacked. FA didn’t queue a single map Monday night primetime NA and was outmanned on at least two maps.

What server do you play on that has these terrible issues?

Sounds like you need to switch from your overstacked server. To a lessor populated server. If you are expecting pity for being on a overstacked server. Believe me you will receive very little if any at all.

Simple solution to your issue is to just move to a lesser populated server and stop crying. Many servers are hurting for population.

I maybe a troll with class.

Or, is it that they got stuck in a queue on an overstacked server and are projecting.

To be fair on the “overstacked server” crap everyone is saying.

I’m not on an overstacked server, but when you link 3 servers with high coverage at 3 different points in time, you end up with a stacked server that has nearly 24/7 coverage.

It’s not like going to Eredon Terrace, for example, is going to get you short queue times as you’ll be linked to a much larger server anyway.

Unless you’re going to server hop every other link to stay off stacked servers, good luck not being on a stacked server at some point in time.


Now, on the topic of the OP and afkers, there is already a 10 minute AFK timer. Your changes would do nothing to improve that in order to get afkers off map. Especially since you’re giving them an extra 5 minutes to come back with the math question.

Not going to raise the question on whether people are afking but if they are then you need to ask yourself why before you can propose how to clear them out for more active people.

So if they are afking and trying to leech points then they may already be macroing to bypass auto logouts. Nothing to be done here except reporting them.

People might be afking for a few due to real life issues. This is reasonable and the auto-logout will handle this already so that is done.

There are people allowing their built up contribution to wind down as they clear bags and prep to leave. For these people there should be some sort of cashout option that was proposed by others in previous threads. If someone has earned their contribution it makes sense allow them to acquire the benefit of that time.

All that said, in some cases it is a player issue for not spreading. Saw queues on EB and DBL but none on ABLs, is that queue issue or player. And though I like the existing system, is part of this an issue that players can be on one map and queue for another? Isn’t that actually doubling the actual player count? Food for thought.

You are exactly right…The unfull servers are paired/linked with full ones. For Ex. I am on Mag and we have a link with DR. DR is dealing with the queues as well as us. So what would be the point in switching to DR? None.

I’m on BG, which is probably the most stacked server. We queued ONE map last night.

The real solution is to get pip kitten to move to an unqueued map, or to Obsidian Sanctum. Problem solved.
