The Time is Nigh! Mist League Season 1 kicks off on the 15th of June 2013 so here is some information to get prepared!

Mist League is an organization by the players and for the players. Mist league seeks to become the driving force behind the global effort to launch GW2 into an eSport. We are also striving to be the #1 source for GW2 PvP information and tools.

Wait, what?

This is a video which was tweeted not too long ago by the GW2 Team. Run to Youtube to check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bu37X1ZEDA”

For more information:

Read our original forum post here – https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/pvp/events/Official-Mist-League-Beta-Release/first

Or our 100g montage competition post here – https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/pvp/events/Mist-League-Update-and-Contest/first#post2153450

When can we view League matches?

The mixed NA and EU show will be every Saturday from 11:00am PDT onwards. It will include competitions, ‘top of the ladder’ match ups, crowd favourites, team interviews and much, much more! Keep an eye out for updates!

In addition, NA streamed match ups will take place each Thursday from 6:30pm on-wards and from 6:30pm on-wards each Tuesday for EU.

We will always try our best to post an accurate schedule of match-ups 1 day prior to each stream.

On the 14th we will release a schedule of the first league match ups happening on the 15th.

Where can we view the matches?

The Mist League Twitch.tv channel will be featured on mistleague.com so you can directly view it from there for your convenience.

Our official twitch.tv channel is – http://www.twitch.tv/MistLeague/

What if there are too many matches to stream or my favorite team can’t play during those times?

It is true that not all match-ups will be during streaming times; these particular matches will be scheduled on other days / times that suit the guilds so long as an available Mist League admin can attend to record the score and referee the match. We will try our best to keep the ‘Crowd favorite’ match-ups happening during streaming hours.

IF you have already registered you WILL need to re-register through this new system

What do we need to do to register?

Our main objective was to make the process as simple as possible but to keep the trolls out. Keeping this in mind here is how to register your guild for the League.

1) Each member from your team / guild will create an account on mistleague.com
2) The team / guild leader will create your guild – http://www.mistleague.com/guilds/create/step/group-details/
3) The team / guild leader will need to invite at least 5 members to that guild. (This is proof to us that you are a legit guild)
4) Your team / guild leader will then need to go to the ‘Leaderboards’ tab on the main menu of mistleague.com – Then, click either Season 1 NA or Season 1 EU depending on what region they are based in.
5) Click the ‘Register Team’ button.
6) Once you have registered your team it will need to be approved by a Mist League admin before it will be added to the Ladder. To help us speed up this process please ensure you have a minimum of 5 members in your guild and a guild image / lokitten

I’ve registered now what?

The ladder is currently locked to stop registered teams from challenging other teams, the ladder will be unlocked on the 13th of June at Midday (For each respective time zone).

When the ladder is unlocked either your Guild Leader or a member he has assigned as Guild Admin will be able to challenge teams that are either 5 places higher or lower than them on the Season ladder (For Week 1 you will have the ability to challenge any team).
We have added this system to stop top teams from rolling new comers and farming points.

Each week your team will be able to play a maximum of 3 games. Once your team has played 3, teams will not be able to challenge you for the rest of the week and all of your pending challenges will be automatically cancelled.

To view send challenges, view challenge request and accept challenges your Guild admins will simply need to view their respective region leaderboard. (Tip: Check back frequently to give yourself the best opportunities)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due the system being completely new, we want to give teams and our admins a chance to familiarize themselves with it. That being said, week 1 matches will continue as normal but all points and played games will be reset to 0 at the start of week 2.

When a challenge is accepted!

Congratulations, you have accepted or been accepted to a challenge! At this point all you need to do is wait, an admin will be in contact with you shortly to discuss when your match will be taking place. Once an admin is in contact with you they will work out a time that suits both teams and their schedules. They will also allocate you a pvp server name you will be playing on and the future password for that channel.

Who goes to the tournament play offs?

The top 5 teams (shown in red on the ladder) at the end of the league will progress to the Mist League Season 1 Championships. More information will be released at a later date.

We Won! No wait we lost…

When you have successfully completed a match your Mist League Admin will record all the stats and send them back to our database. They will then be confirmed or questioned and your points will be added to the ladder (This process should all hopefully happen within an hour of your match ending). We have created a point structure that will make room for newly formed and late to register teams. For our detailed point structure please see here – http://www.mistleague.com/organisation/

Additional Notes

Week 1 there will be only 1 map played, which will reflect the Guild Wars 2 in game tournament map rotation. Week 2, there will be 2 maps played which will consist of the previous weeks map and the new Guild Wars 2 in game tournament map rotation. This pattern will flow until all maps are in rotation with the only exception being ‘Raid on the Capricorn’ which will not be played until under water combat is “Tournament Ready”.
To make life easier if your team isn’t available during your regions ‘standard hours’ please communicate that fact with other guilds before you challenge, or accept their challenges.

The league will run for a minimum of 6 weeks and may be extended.

See here to view the weekly point chart: http://www.mistleague.com/organisation/

I agree with this. There are still some serious flaws with Temple and Spirit Watch.
It would be nice if ANet could cooperate, and just not put those map into the rotations for a while, maybe?

Agree, though forest is not a tournament map either for me. Mabye they decide to restrict the pool to the 3 classic maps.

Temple, imo, is one of the better maps we have!

I agree to not include Spirit Watch, however Temple imo should be included.

The water in one area should not hinder such a great map

Temple is not fine. Until they figure out a way to deal with blatantly overpowered underwater mechanics/bugs, my vote will be to keep this map out of any competitive rotation.

I can’t see it being any worse than Kylo where the ability to travel through walls completely imbalances the map in favor of certain classes. The buggy treb issues, and several other annoying imbalances that greatly favor specific classes.

The underwater spot is so small and the only way it holds an issue is if a fight happens there or if a ranger who is about to die falls into it to heal himself or a thief uses it to evade combat.

The fact that you still have to climb above the waterlevel to actually get the point, and that it’s not at any key point except if you use it to stay alive, at which point you can’t hurt anyone who is above the water. Capricorn is broken TSS is as bad as Khylo.

You would be right except the water surrounds one of the most important points in that entire map: the power-up that instantly flips all points to your side. The fact that such an important point is surrounded by water is somewhat of a problem.

Well, the 2 main problems with water combat is that engineers are able to get a double heal out of it, and rangers are pretty much unkillable due to lick wounds being broken underwater.

For a tournament where you set the rules, it’s simple enough to put a couple rules in place. I don’t know the specifics of the engineer exploit, but I believe that it would be removed if you ensure that both on-land and underwater heals are the same. If the engineer doesn’t obey that rule, their team gets immediately ejected from the tournament.

The lick wounds issue is a bit harder. It’s easy to say ‘well, ranger’s aren’t allowed to use lick wounds underwater.’ The problem with that is that unlike engineers, lick wounds isn’t really an exploit…it’s just a really overpowered skill, and so making them not use it is cutting off 25% of their underwater downed mechanic. Perhaps that’s a workable solution, perhaps it’s not. That would be up to the tournament admin team to decide.

One other thing to consider would be to not let eles when dead on land, mist down into the water below. While yes it does take quite a long time to self res and run back up it is preferable to being stomped. Seeing as there is no way to down players underwater the team stomping the ele lose a lot of the momentum that should have been generated by a kill to chase it down and DPS it underwater.

It’s another one of the few cheesy exploits on this map that keep it from being “balanced” in automated tournament play that people running tournaments could easily enforce.

While we’re on the topic of map exploits it would be nice to see something done about this for other maps as well. Though other maps are confined to shadow step bugs for the most part and there is a lot of room for personal interpretaion in those cases. None the less some of the more obvious ones should be considered and a system should be set up to punish teams who break these kind of rules. Mistakes can always happen so I would hate to see it always lead to a DQ.

I honestly despise TSS. Because, the fact that if you are not looking at your clock while in intense team fights and running to a buff can lose you a match. I believe with the way they wanted the game to be they shouldn’t have made a conquest map with a 2 buff combo that wins you the game.

If your team isn’t good enough to pay attention to the timers that’s your fault.

Wait….I think I know you….lol

Seriously though I think the 2 buffs should be staggered. Having top buff and bottom buff is too strong IMO

To get the map tourney viable, I think they should:

A) have all underwater skills locked
B) if ele’s mist into water, they become part of the water and die
C) stagger the 8:30 buffs.

That could work

They should close the holes up top, remove the water, and put a tunnel on both sides.
Or turn the holes into staggering ledges leading to the bottom.
