I saw another post very similar to this and I’ll ask you the same question. Do you want 80 FPS in all of GW2 or 80 FPS during everything EXCEPT WvW battles and large Dynamic Events?

If you want 80 FPS everywhere, there is no hardware that can produce that result.

If you don’t mind getting 30 FPS in large WvW battles and large Dynamic Events, then I would recommend any of the following processors:
AMD’s FX 8350 (worst high end processor netting you 25-30 FPS in 100+ man WvW battles)
Intel’s i5 3570K
Intel’s i7 3770K
Intel’s i7 3930K (best high end processor netting 30+ FPS in 100+ man WvW battles)
every processor listed above requires an overclock to achieve the listed FPS (to about 4.5Ghz). If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, then expect sub 30 FPS in large 100+ man WvW battles. If all you do is game on this rig, especially games with outdated engines like GW2 and skyrim, the 3570K is the choice of processor. If you’re going to FRAPS and do video/audio encoding, the FX 8350/3770K/3930K are more up your alley.

then for a graphics card:
AMD’s 7870 XT (best graphics card for your money, it will play GW2 at max settings on 1080p with 60 FPS on normal play)

Alternatively, you can wait until early June for Intel to release Haswell, and get the new processors which average (and estimated) to be about 5-15 percent faster than Ivy Bridge (i5 3570K/i7 3770K).

I’m not sure what a 50 player battle would result in on these processors. As I own none of them, I’m speaking from other people’s experiences on the forums that I have read about.

Another thing I forgot to ask is if you are able to salvage parts from your current PC (if there is one), stuff like hard drives, CD/DVD ROM drives (if you desire to have these optional devices), a case, a power supply, and peripherals (mouse/keyboard/monitor).

U can get 80 FPS in GW2 pve, but not WvW (no matter how much u put into a rig).
And to be honest, for 1000 euro’s ur not gunna be able to afford a SLI/Xfire rig capable of handle all other games at ultra settings at 60+ fps.

You would be spending 1000 euro’s alone on 2 graphics cards.

With GW2’s new culling options its IMPOSSIBLE to get above 30 fps in even mid sized WvW battles with settings on max. If u drop the culling settings then u can get 30+fps.
For 50+ FPS in 50 man battles.. that ambitous, u could probabyl do it if u lower the culling settings, but again ..no chanceo n max.

Just to give u an idea, my rig (in sig) can manage roughly 30fps minimums in large WvW battles ONLY if i lower the culling settings. I keep character limit on max so i can see every1, but lower the texture culling to low or very low. This just about keeps FPS at 30. If i max the texture culling options so i dont cull the textures at all, i drop down to around 15-20 fps in large battles, which is rediculus.
FPS for my rig: Zerg size 30 to 100 = FPS 50 down to 25/30 (depends on my texture cull settings)

For 1000 euro’s ur looking at somthign like this.

No need to get the i7 a i5 3570k will do just fine for gaming (it will need to be overclocked for this game) and 8 GB of memory is just fine this is everything but the speakers, mouse, keyboard, and monitor and will last you a long time. 7970 video card for when you play more intense graphics games that are not processor limited. Includes the operating system.

Check out PC Format magazine. It’s a Brit mag but they drill down into everything. They actually give you info on building the best gaming machines every month, Budget, Mainstream and High-End; listing all the components needed (after their testing of course). I have it on my iPad thru Zinio. The last info they said is to go AMD as its not locked like the Intel stuff. The AMD is also cheaper and has more future upgrade paths. I think you can view one issue for free. Not sure. But it will tell you what to buy without the headaches.

I second this build having more cores obviously does not change anything in this pretty fked up game i5/i7 single core performance is the same afaik with that GPU you will be more future proof and other games like TR/Bioshock/BF3/4 will be butter smooth @1080p but don’t forget you will need to overclock the cpu to get the best out of it.

The reason i lean towards the 3770k for high performance like the OP is requesting is becouse for GW2, and a few other rare CPu intensive games, u can use up all 4 threads on a 3570k.

For example my own CPU has 12 threads yet in GW2 it can hit 50% overall usuage in extreme situations, and 40% in heavy WvW. Thats equal to 6 and 5 threads used.

Its just somthing to think about anyway….
A 3570k will be great for the majority of games out though

That’s indeed a logical recommendation but Imho a gaming ring should not be built in favor of only one game.. Not that R7870xt a bad card or 3770k is an overkill but most of the modern games utilize most of the installed gpu unlike GW2. Besides no matter what 3770k will be providing 80constant in GW2 as OP asked anyways but he will be amazed in any other games that use GPU properly…

You will see 0 increase going from a i5 to a i7. You can have 20 cores and will not get anymore FPS than I do with my i5.

all those games are bad comparisons

For any fps game, do you stand in front of your enemy in a dog pile to shoot a gun <- nuff said

Bioshock <- i have clusterphobia.

The only games on the market that can stimulate gw 2 case is wow but that game has crappy graphics

The only other game i make be able to stimulate gw2 problem is elder scroll online, but i am pessimistic.

hey, dont call me an einstein. you should read people screen name every once in awhile and make a joke out of it.

The problem is that you included “other games.” Most games are console ports and not design to run under an extreme crazy edge case of a massive zerg. I mention bioshock because its one hella of a cluster phobic game. You are in a cloud city and basically you can only move around as large as a mesmer time wrap. Most games impose serious limitations on the player to gain better graphics and gameplay.

Lots of pc can run GW2 at 80 fps normally, but most computers just doesn’t handle zergs well.

Guild wars 2 have shown us that our CPU speed is not good enough
